I've had a daily art practice for many years. I say 'art practice' which is a fancy term for grabbing coffee and sitting down to paint before everyone gets up and the day begins.
Recently, I've felt like I want to do more with my time. More for me, for my health, well being, etc. But didn't know what that was until I watched Martha Stewart's short masterclass on making the most of your day. That inspired me to consider that I need to be a bit more focused and purposeful. I need some structure in my day that is fully focused on achieving my personal goals.
After lots of thought, I've settled on an overall theme of daily practice focused on my mind, body and soul.
Body is strength training, yoga or walking. Mind is meditation or goal-oriented journaling. Soul is art.
I already get up around 6, so instead of painting for an hour, I will do 20 min each of items focused on mind, body and soul.
And I will remember, this is a marathon and not a sprint. I want progress not perfection. This is for me, so if it doesn't feel right, I can evolve.
