Cyanotypes don’t take that long to develop in an afternoon of strong sun 8-10 minutes and you get that gorgeous Prussian blue and white beauty. Did you know though, you can leave it out longer and it entirely changes the image?
I have done long exposure a few times. The most I got was 4 days.. too impatient. However, 2 weeks ago, I put a piece out and completely forgot about it!
A full week later, I went out back to do some varnishing and there she was. It had been sunny and rainy, so I wasn’t sure what was even left, but it survived and turned into this muted grey, aqua and yellow beauty.
I will definitely try long exposure again. It’s creates such a different look from typical cyanotypes.
